The manual gearbox is mainly composed of gear and shaft, which produces variable torque by different gear combinations; and the automatic transmission AT is composed of hydraulic torque converter, planetary gear and hydraulic control system, which achieves variable torque change by means of hydraulic transmission and gear combination.

The hydraulic torque converter is the most characteristic component of AT. It is composed of pump wheel, turbine and guide wheel and so on. It directly inputs the engine power transfer torque and clutch function. The pump wheel and the turbine are a pair of working combinations, which are like two relative fans. The wind blown by an active fan will drive the blades of another passive fan to rotate, and the flowing air - wind is the medium of kinetic energy transfer.

If the air is used instead of air as the medium of transfer kinetic energy, the pump wheel will rotate the turbine through the liquid, and the guide wheel is added between the pump wheel and the turbine to improve the transfer efficiency of the liquid. Because the torque converter is not large enough and the efficiency is low, a few rows of planetary gears are used to improve the efficiency. The hydraulic control system will manipulate the planetary gear with the change of the engine.
